They feature a combination of colors, textures and lusters. The combination in this instance is scrumptious. I believe the artist has combined a sterling silver and gold setting with four rough or raw cut pink natural ruby nuggets or pink or raspberry rhodonite stones. That is a hallmark of Lilly Barrack's jewelry, in my experience. She showcases stones as they appear in nature, with all of their ruggedness and idiosyncrasies. As a consequence, her jewelry looks like it has been born, not manufactured. The artist Lilly Barrack has signed these earrings across the backs of the two earrings, together. Thus, the first earring reads. LILLY and the second: BARRACK. Together, they read "LILLY BARRACK" with marks for silver and gold content. 925 mark confirms that the body of the earrings, which are in the shape of small shields or plaques, are sterling silver. I believe the "K" refers to the metal content of the vertical bar that sits atop the middle of each sterling silver shield. It suggests that the vertical bars are gold in some form or denomination. Precisely what form or denomination the gold takes is a mystery, however. It looks like there was once a number "4" or "14" imprinted before the letter "K" on the back of the first earring, but that most of the number was covered over when the post was attached to the earring back.
So, at this point, I cannot tell you whether the purity mark read 9 K, 10 K, 14 K, or 24 K carat gold. I simply have no idea.
The same is true of the stones. I believe that they are either natural pink ruby nuggets that are both raw and rough and unpolished, or pink or raspberry rhodonite.
But, I could be wrong. They could be some other luscious stone that has the look of raw and unheated rubies or rhodonite. Since Lilly Barrack is known for using high quality elements in her jewelry, I cannot imagine the stones not being natural. The color of the stones is a rich, deep ruby red, mauve, raspberry or strawberry.Length of earring: Between 5/8th and 3/4 of an inch. Width of earring: Between 1/4 and 3/8ths of an inch. Note: As is apparent from the photographs, one earring post is absolutely straight. The second one has a very slight kink in it, from normal use.
It does not affect either the usability or look of the earrings. I just thought it should be noted.
