Vintage Early Signed Los Castillo Early 1940s Mexican Sterling Silver Chevron Design Necklace and Bracelet and Earrings Set. Necklace Signed: LOS CASTILLO, TAXCO, STERLING, MEXICO, 480 (model number). Bracelet Signed: LOS CASTILLO, TAXCO, STERLING, MADE IN MEXICO, 506. The bracelet is also marked STERLING on the back of the clasp closure. Both Earrings Signed: LOS CASTILLO, TAXCO, 4?

8 (the middle number is not clear). Date: There is no eagle assay mark, so this set predates 1948. Total Weight of Necklace: 166 grams Total weight of Bracelet: 123 grams Total weight of Earrings: 13 grams.

Size: The necklace is approximately 16.25"length x 7/8"w. The necklace has 26 articulating links which enable this necklace to conform to laying flat on the neck. The links of the necklace and the links of the earrings are the same size and design.

Each link is approximately 1 1/8"length x 7/8"w at the top widest area. The bracelet is approximately 6.5"length x 2.25"w at the widest point.

The necklace has a hook closure. The bracelet has a push-in clasp and a pin closure. The earrings have screw back closures. Condition: Very good vintage condition.

The whole set could use a careful cleaning, as there are remnants of old silver polish in each of the 4 pieces. However, as the wonderful patina is very fine on all 4 of the pieces, and as some owners are very strict regarding maintenance of the gorgeous patina, the cleaning will be left to the new owner. The safety chain on the bracelet is broken (see pictures). The pin closure and its attached safety chain may or may not be original (we do not know). The set is beautiful and was worn, and there are light scratches and some bends to the top of the balls on the bracelet design - but no major insults. Hand made, hand crafted, this is a beautiful example of the Los Castillo design artistry and silversmith work.

In the early 1940s, Mexico gave the world some of the most wonderful art deco modernist designs, many of which have been repeatedly copied - which is a high complement - but this set is the real deal. Each one of the four pieces is marked Los Castillo.

The sixty plus years of patina on this set has added a delicious tonality. The first 8 pictures were taken outdoors, and the last four pictures were taken indoors to show how rich the patina looks indoors.
