Vintage Book Piece Trifari Sterling Sunburst Red Rhinestone Fur Clip Earring Set

  

This Signed Trifari Faux Ruby Fur Clip and Earrings Set is from the Sunburst Line created by Alfred Philippe in 1945. It is featured in "American Costume Jewelry" by Carla Ginelli Brunialti and Roberto Brunialti on page 122 in the Italian Edition and on page 138 in the. "American Costume Jewelry, Art and Industry".

According to the text, The design was inspired by jewelry by Fulco di Verdura. This item together with its matching earrings, appeared in a Trifari advertisement in Vogue, 1st June 1946, under the name of "Sunburst". Both the Fur Clip and the Earrings are set so the Stones are in an open back Tiered setting, which gives them Plenty of Sparkle They do indeed look like Rubies.

Surrounded by a ring of small white Rhinestones. Then encircled by Wavy Rays, like the Sun. In between the Rays there are small Clear or White round Rhinestones. The Fur clip measures 2-1/2" in diameter and the Earrings measure 1-1/4" in diameter.

The Fur Clip and the Earrings are marked Trifari with the Crown and "STERLING", DES. This set has been worn and the Gold Wash on all 3 pieces is Good but there is wear. The Fur Clip has 9 small white or clear Rhinestones missing in the Wavy Ray area and the Earrings there are 8 tiny white or clear Rhinestones missing and one small white or clear Rhinestone missing.

All of the Faux Rubies are intact and in Excellent Condition on the Fur Clip. On the Earrings there is a pock mark in the table of one of the Faux Ruby Stones that looks to be in the making of the Stone and two Stones have 1 each - extremely tiny Flea Bites.

This can only be seen under a Jeweler's Loupe. The Hinged Fur Clip works Perfectly and the Tines are straight. Guard holds the Tines firmly and Securely in Place.
