Vintage 9k Gold & Sterling Thai Princess Noppakao Earrings. The nine gems or "noppakao" are considered auspicious gems. This is a Thai name coined for the pagoda shape of the jewelry. This jewelry has become more popular especially to the western world since the 1940s. The older pieces were made of gold. These earrings feature pear-shaped ruby, emerald, yellow sapphire, carnelian, moonstone, zircon and tiger's eye and 17 round-cut white sapphires or spinel. Condition notes: These earrings were originally drop earrings that were converted a post. The post is base metal.
