This is a very early pair of vintage sterling earrings from Los Castillo. The design is spectacular, fish leaping through waves.

The earrings aren't quite symmetrical, the fish aren't identical. But what 2 fish are?

Also, the finish isn't the same. One earring has been polished.

I left them as I found them. There is no assay mark which dates the earrings to pre 1948.

These are inventory number 106. If you are a fan of Taxco silver or a collector of Los Castillo jewelry or you just like fish, these are the earrings for you. Antonio Castillo and his 4 brothers trained with William Spratling before opening Los Castillo in 1939. Today this second generation shop is one of the most prominent of Mexico's jewelers.
