Incredible and super cool rare collectable Taxco Mexico huge fine solid sterling silver chandelier pierced earrings featuring traditional hooks, love heart padlock and skeleton key dangles. Wonderful unique statement earrings for your vintage jewellery collection. Each earring: 8.2 x 3.1 cm at widest. Total weight: 18.37 grams.

Approximate era for these is 1970's-80's; the earrings are in good vintage condition with minor signs of general ageing and wear-light scratches/scuffs, some remaining tarnish. I have cleaned these gently with a silver cloth and water.

Sterling silver Taxco Mexico pieces not only refer to a brand but to a region in Mexico famous for its fine sterling silver, artisans and creative, beautiful, unusual, often playful and bold jewellery designs. I have found that Taxco Mexico sterling silver pieces are inspired and reflect all the beautiful things in life both spiritual (traditional symbols) and natural (plants, flowers, sun, moon, animals & the universe) and creating something uniquely "The Taxco Way"-often large and sometimes incorporating golden brass highlights, colourful gemstones, shell and/or vibrant enamel. It is a testament to the Taxco artisan's that so many of the vintage pieces I've acquired look and function as well as they did when originally created despite some ageing/wear. Taxco markings/stamps vary mostly depending on era and artist eg: the word "Taxco" is often on pieces pre-1960's, open eagle symbol is mid 1960's-early 1970's and from mid 1970's the letter/number combo (eg: TM-180). Sometimes the artisan will put their initials (eg: EUC) or name as well. Mex or Mexico 925 is almost always present. Taxco Mexico sterling silver continues today with gorgeous new pieces (sometimes using original vintage artisan moulds) both locally and internationally (online) in the medium to high-end price range.
