Vtg Turquoise Sterling Silver MCM Cluster Chandelier Earrings Navajo or Zuni

  
These earrings are incredibly graceful. The top portion has an organic triangular shape with a cluster of four cabochons on the triangular backing.

The top cabochon may not be a stone at all, but a beautiful, rich blue glossy enamel. The lower three cabochons are natural turquoise stones with nuanced turquoise colors and a matte finish. The combination of glossy and matte, intense and more subtle blues is stunning. The effect is almost like a'mixed media' look.

At the bottom of each unifying triangle there is a series of nine perforations. There is a sculpted sterling silver dangle, drop or paddle hanging from each perforation.

When the 9 dangles are aligned, they look like a silver fringe. As with another one of my earrings: they are not always aligned. Each dangle or drop is capable of moving independently of the other dangles and rotating in as much as a 270 degree or more angle.

The result is tremendous movement. While I believe that these are made by a Native American artisan, I cannot tell you whether they are Zuni or Navajo or the work of another tribe or nation or, indeed, where they were made. Whoever the artisan was, he or she was a master craftsperson in my view. Approximate measurements: Length of the turquoise triangle: 7/8th inches.
