Excellent Vintage Navajo (Diné) Pair of Sterling Silver & Turquoise. Heart & Fleur-de-lis Motif Hangers, Signed KB Sterling. These signed earrings are beautifully made in an antique Spanish Colonial style with fine small square cut greenish-blue turquoise stones set in finely serrated bezels, very detailed stamping and elegant tufa-cast hangers from which the crosses dangle. The posts mounted on the backs of the heart and fleur-de-lis hangers retain their slide-on keepers and are silver as well. The front surfaces of the earrings appear to have been lightly acid etched prior to the stamping gives the pair a more antique appearance.
Signed KB, Sterling, the identity of the maker is unknown and while it's tempting to attribute this pair to the renowned Kenneth Begay, they are not consistent with his mostly Modernist style jewelry. The earrings were probably made in the 1970s-90's.Small in scale and elegant, these earrings are unusual and desirable. Dimensions: overall 2-1/4" tall, 1-1/16" wide; crosses 1-3/8" tall; heart and fleur-de-lis hangers 3/4" tall; stones 1/8 square. Condition: Excellent, all parts including posts and holders undamaged and clean.
Crosses show very slight wear on the backs. The item "Vintage Navajo Pair Sterling Silver Turquoise Cross Earrings Signed KB, 1970-90s" is in sale since Monday, September 6, 2021.
