Vintage Carl Luthy Sterling Persian Turquoise Squash Blossom Necklace Earrings. This beautiful necklace is 27 inches long from end to end. The naja pendant is 2 1/2 inches long by 2 3/4 inch wide and the back has the hallmark for the Carl Luthy shop.
The blossoms are 1 1/2 inches long and so are the earrings. The hand made beads are 6 MM in width and all strung on sterling foxtail chain. The weight of both is 164 grams. The earrings are currently attached to screw on hangers but can be easily converted to pierced. Carl Luthy had many outstanding Navajo silversmiths working for him making the jewelry that he designed in his shop. His sign, a stick figure represents the designer instead of the silver smith and in many cases the actual smith is not known, but the jewelry that came out of his shop is famous for unique designs and high quality stones set in silver and gold. This outstanding necklace set has twenty gem quality, finely cut pieces of exquisite turquoise set in a magnificent hand wrought setting. The naja pendant has a little sterling hinge in the middle of the crescent instead of the usual loop that suspend the stones which is a design element I have only ever seen on Carl Luthy pieces. This set is in magnificent vintage condition and a wonderful collectors item. Carl Luthy passed away in 1975.
