If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. Margot Van Voorhies Carr was born in America and arrived in Taxco, Mexico, in 1937 where she met, and soon after, married Antonio Castillo of Los Castillo silversmiths whose work was highly collectible. She worked with Los Castillo and many of their early pieces show Margots unique designs. Her marriage to Antonio Castillo ended in 1948, at which time Margot set up her own studio and retail outlet in Taxco. She employed many talented silversmiths including; Miguel Arias, Hilario Lopez, Miguel Melendez, Melicio Rodriguez, and Jaime Quiroz.

She designed some of the most stunning hand wrought jewelry, but is best known for her silver and enamel works of art. Margot produced and designed jewelry until the later 1970s.

She passed away in 1985. Her stunning works of art are some of the most highly collectible and will continue to rise in value.

Some of Margot's famous clients were Lana Turner & John Wayne among many others. Margots pieces are shown in various Mexican collectible silversmith books, including the most recent book in 2010 entitled: Margot Van Voorhies The Art of Mexican Enamelwork by Penny Morrill.
