This is the price a piece would be worth if stripped down and melted to its bare materials. This beautiful piece was made during a period called the Art Nouveau Era! This time was also called "La Belle Epoque" in French which translates to "A Beautiful Time". This was very true due to the gorgeous designs that came out of this period.

The Art Nouveau period was famous for its flowing organic designs, flowing ladies, flowing floral designs, regal designs. The Jugendstil style was a popular style of Art Nouveau jewelry that arose in Germany and was floral in nature.

This style of jewelry was only made in certain parts of the world, so it was highly sought after and recognizable. Repoussé began as an ancient metal working technique, involving malleable silver first formed with a specially created three-dimensional mold and then further refined by hammering from the reverse side and adding detail to the front. The finished work was intricate, with grooves, indentation and channeling.

It was then carefully polished as an eye-catching treasure. Bohemian Garnets were mined starting in the 16. Century in the Bohemian Hills of Czechoslovakia. During the Victorian and Art Deco eras, this type of garnet reached a height of popularity. There are no known mines in existence which has made the remaining stones highly coveted. Bohemian Garnets feature gorgeous red hues. The earrings have a small hole on the back from formation, this was to allow hot air to be released. They also have a couple small dings on the backside. They have been reduced in price to reflect this.

However, this is normal for earrings of this age. The earrings include beautiful cabochon cut and polished Bohemian Garnet stones in each of the earrings. The Garnets have a beautiful Pomegranate red hue that looks beautiful within each stone.

The earrings include classic handmade Art Nouveau craftsmanship throughout. The Earrings feature the classic Jugendstil style with granulated beads as well as leaf designs wrapping around the center stones. The earrings are made in the repousse style and are hollow with beautiful hand hammered patterns everywhere. They earrings are meant to be worn with the stones facing towards the viewer. The earrings measure 2" including the hooks by 1 and 1/4".

The earrings include shepard style hooks for pierced ears. A jeweler could make these into screw backs or clip on's if desired.

Antique and Vintage jewelry is disappearing at alarming rates.
