SPECIALIZING IN FINE ANTIQUE VINTAGE JEWELRY & COLLECTIBLES. These prices come from GIA recognized. THE wholesale price guide for dealers. These values do not dictate what a piece is worth. This is the price a piece would be worth if stripped down and melted to its bare materials.

We also have the matching bracelet to this pair of earrings. This beautiful piece was made during a period called the Art Nouveau Era! This time was also called "La Belle Epoque" in French which translates to "A Beautiful Time". The Grand Tour was the standard European vacation of the Georgian and Victorian eras. The opportunity it gave for studying culture, architecture and art made it a tradition, especially for the upper classes.

And what better souvenir of this long trip than pieces of native souvenir jewelry such as Italian cameos, mosaic and pietra dura pieces. Pieces often also had historical inspirations from the remnants of Pompeii to the pyramids of Egypt, cultural learning was a focal point of the grand tour, the process of remembrance spilled over into jewelry souvenirs. Etruscan Revival Jewelry was known for the clean and elegant simplicity of ancient Greek and Roman design and detailed by granulation and scrolled wire work. Master Italian goldsmiths, such as Castellani, were famous for their work in this style. Other Etruscan Revival pieces, include cameos of carved lava, hardstone or shell, in yellow gold, which were detailed with scenes from classic mythology or jewelry created in micro-mosaic and pietra dura.

Gods and goddesses, nymphs and warriors, were all prevalent as well as motifs consisting of grapes, vines, swags and garlands. In the late 19th century, Carl Fabergé elevated this craft to new heights by marrying guilloché engraving with enameling. This successful integration of metal and glass appeared soon after Michael Perchin became head-goldmaster for Fabergé in 1886. Under his direction, guilloché engraving became increasingly complex.

After firing, each piece was polished by hand using a wooden wheel covered with chamois leather. These techniques were difficult and time-consuming, but Fabergés craftsmen made them seem like childs play. The trend was soon adopted by other great jewelry houses of the time, including Bolin, Cartier, Chaumet, Boucheron and Tiffany & Co.

Jeweled clocks, watch cases, cigarette cases, cigar cutters, picture frames, cane heads, parasol handles, hatpins, vanity cases, combs, mirrors, lorgnettes, pens, buckles and matching button sets are just a few of the tempting trinkets in guilloché enamel that proliferated from 1890 to 1920. The beautiful art of Enameling is as old as the entire history of jewelry itself. Since the time of the Ancient Persians & Greeks enameling has been used to decorate metal pottery, clay decorations, and most of all jewelry!

Enameling allowed artists to put beautiful color on top of gold which allowed for limitless unique designs! The bracelet in the set is signed and dated. We believe these to be the matching earrings to the bracelet, even though the enamel hues are different.

We believe this was done for contrast when worn together. The backs of the earrings include later added brass clip on's. The piece includes classic handmade Art Nouveau Era craftsmanship throughout. The earrings feature beautiful hand painted Russian Art Nouveau enamel work across the front of them.

The enamel includes beautiful blue's hues on the fronts. The earrings also include Grand Tour inspired Etruscan silver rosettes and rope twist patterns. The earrings could easily be converted to posts by a jeweler.

The earrings measure just over 3/4 in diameter. Antique and Vintage jewelry is disappearing at alarming rates. Unfortunately, most of the jewelry from this time period has been lost or melted down over the years, please don't miss your chance to own this special piece of history!
