Notable Features: These earrings were completely handmade by the talented Taxco silversmith C. Lopez during the Mid-Century Modern period using tri-colored metals, as was popular during the time. These gorgeous earrings were made in the Brutalist style, and feature concentric circular loops of Sterling Silver, Brass, and Copper hanging from a horizontal bar. The bar in turn hangs from a Copper, Brass, and Sterling Silver disc with a granulated bead accent, pulling all of the earring elements together cohesively.

A truly stunning set sure to complement any outfit. This beautiful piece comes from the Art Deco Era!

The Art Deco Era is famous for being the "Gatsby" or "Roaring Twenties" Era. A lot of gorgeous and timeless designs in jewelry came out of this period. During the Art Deco Period jewelers often made jewelry upon custom order, this would often take weeks to months to completely craft by hand.

Mid-Century Modernism became a movement in art and jewelry in the 1940s, right after World War II, and peaked in the 1950s. The use of multi-colored metals became very popular due to wartime restrictions on certain materials; it was not uncommon to have brass, copper or gold-alloy accents with silver backgrounds. Mid-Century Modernism is marked by clean lines and bold, abstract geometric shapes. The Brutalist Style is architectural in origin, and arose from the modernist movement of the early 20th. The name comes from the French word for Raw.

In buildings, it can be noted by the exposed concrete construction, or detailed brickwork and concrete. Jewelry follows in this fashion on a smaller scale. The uneasy look to it counters the light, carefree appearance of some of the 1930s and 1940s architecture.

Taxco is the location of many silver mines that have been around since the time of conquistadors. During the 1920's Taxco artisans banded together to start creating silver jewelry, since then Taxco jewelry has been considered among some of the finest craftsmanship in silver jewelry in the world.
