This is the price a piece would be worth if stripped down and melted to its bare materials. This beautiful pair of earrings comes from the Art Deco Era! The Art Deco Era is famous for being the "Gatsby" or "Roaring Twenties" Era. A lot of gorgeous and timeless designs in jewelry came out of this period. During the Art Deco Period jewelers often made jewelry upon custom order, this would often take weeks to months to completely craft by hand.

Bohemian Garnets have been mined in the Bohemian Hills of Czechoslovakia since the 16th century. These garnets reached their height of popularity in jewelry of the Victorian era to the Art Deco Era's. Bohemian Garnet is widely coveted due to its gorgeous red hues and due to the fact that this Garnet has been depleted and no known mines exist any longer. The earrings are marked "Lior, " which represents a well-known Israeli jewelry designer. The clasp holding the two ropes together tested as 14k gold.

These earrings each feature a sugar loaf cut and polished Bohemian Garnet and a smaller, round cabochon cut and polished Bohemian Garnet. The Garnets are a deep red/maroon color. One of the sugar loaf garnets has a few small, barely visible inclusions, but the stones have no surface.

The Garnets are all bezel set within the earrings. These gorgeous earrings are made from solid Sterling Silver. The diamond motif houses the recessed sugar loaf Garnet. At the bottom of the diamond there is a small flower with the round cut Garnet in the center.

Beneath the body of the earrings hangs 2 rope twist soft silver ropes, one slightly shorter than the other, and the clasp holding the ropes together tested as 14k yellow gold. Each earring measures just over 2 and 1/2" long by 5/8" at the widest. The design includes latched Shepard's style hooks that stay secured while being worn. Antique and Vintage jewelry is disappearing at alarming rates.

Unfortunately most of the jewelry from this time period has been lost or melted down over the years, please don't miss your chance to own this special piece of history! Sizable by Your Local Jeweler. Due to the age of some of these pieces some items will not be stamped. The National Stamping Act was not enacted until 1906, before 1906 jewelry was not legally required to have a karat mark. This is one way to date items prior to the Art Nouveau time period. All of our jewelry is verified and guaranteed though an x-ray florescent-spectrometer test. This test conducts and determines the exact alloy content within the metal without damaging the piece like scratch and acid testing. Please be aware if you take an item to be tested by a jeweler, jewelers use scratch testing and electronic testing.

These methods are only accurate 50% of the time, these are cheap, ineffective, and damaging ways to test to gold purity of an item. The XRF requires specialized training in order to correctly read the results. Rest assured that what you are receiving is 100% accurate. Item(s) must be sent back in original condition. If you plan to take your item to a jeweler please visit one with a specialized field in estate jewelry.

Most jewelry stores work with new/modern designs and on rare occasion are asked about vintage items. Chain jewelers are NOT a reliable source to date a piece of jewelry unless they are specialized with estate items.
