A lot of gorgeous and timeless designs in jewelry came out of this period. Jewelry from this period was most often crafted between 1920 and 1940. Art Deco jewelry sometimes featured white gold or platinum, geometric designs, European cut diamonds, filigree, and calibre cut stones that are specifically cut to fit the design of the piece.

During the Art Deco period jewelers often made jewelry upon custom order, this would often take weeks to months to completely craft by hand. Etruscan Revival jewelry was first popularized during the early 1800s when an Etruscan tomb was discovered just outside of Rome. Upon its discovery, jewelers worked to imitate and understand the metalworking techniques with which the jewelry was made. Not only was Etruscan jewelry a luxurious addition to the Victorian styles of the day.

But it introduced new ideas and decorations. These Etruscan tombs contained jewelry adorned with long and flowing geometric lines and motifs, mythological imagery and scenery, and celestial elements.

The techniques of repoussé, filigree, and granulation are all attributed to the Etruscans. Rubies are one of the four precious gemstones and are prized for their pink to blood red colors. The most valued hue of ruby is called blood-red, or pigeon blood, for the bright, rich hue it exhibits. The color of a ruby comes from the element chromium. Rubies have adorned royal and religious jewelry for centuries and were especially esteemed in Asian countries like China and India, where they were thought to bring good fortune.

Rubies are graded by color, clarity, cut, and carat. Rubies are often also evaluated based on their geographic origin.

Red coral has played an important part in Chinese art, culture, and style throughout history and into the 21st century. Red coral has been used as an ornamental stone or material in Chinese jewelry, carvings, and sculptures because of its vibrant variety of red hues. In ancient times, red coral was delivered to China by the Silk Roads from Italy, by sea from the Persian Gulf, and from the Mediterranean Sea via the Indian Ocean. The amount of natural red color has dramatically decreased in recent years due to environmental factors and coral harvesting. The quantity of manufactured coral on the market has increased as the popularity of Chinese red coral continues.
